Volunteer Ireland
Challenge:

Volunteer Ireland (VI) wanted to automate their volunteer processes, improve their volunteering opportunities database web experience, and integrate social channels like Twitter and Facebook to extend reach to younger demographics.

Solution:

Salesforce web technologies were used to provide a slick, branded online browsing database of volunteering opportunities, integrated in to their multiple regional websites. Volunteers can now choose an opportunity and apply for the position through a wizard-like application process, all running through Salesforce. Applications are processed with rich workflow and approvals, routing the applications to the correct center across more than 100 users.

Organisations can also register and log opportunities that are then made available to the public. PwC also developed a search widget that can be embedded by other not-for-profits and partners in to their websites to allow website visitors to search for volunteering opportunities without leaving the website.

Twitter and Facebook integration allows Volunteer Ireland to post new opportunities in to social channels to widen their reach to new demographics.

Results:

Branded – a slick user experience on the web with guided application forms

Social – hooks in to social media enabled reach to new demographics

Automated – Salesforce workflow drives process efficiency

What was most helpful in the process is the attitude and support we got from the PwC team, who empowered us along the way, giving us the tools to manage the end product ourselves. We are so pleased with the end product – a truly searchable database for volunteering in Ireland that underpins the volunteering infrastructure, as well as being the daily working tool for all volunteer centres in Ireland. Having such a professional product, which puts us at the cutting edge of technology in the not-for-profit sector in Ireland, has also opened other funding doors for us. Our funders have now given us extra resources to develop a ‘volunteer finder’ service, which will be a searchable database of volunteer skills, and we’re working with PwC on this at the moment. We can't recommend c-decisions highly enough and look forward to a long relationship with them.
